Information for this static website and the locally running TourTrace360 prototype. Updated 23 September 2026.

1. Controller and contact

2. Accessing the website

When this site is accessed online, technically necessary connection data, such as IP address, time, requested file, browser information and possibly the referring page, are transmitted to the serving system. The purpose is delivery and security of the site. Article 6(1)(f) GDPR may provide the basis in the legitimate interest in an available and secure website. The recipient is the hosting provider actually used.

Whether and for how long access logs are retained must be determined from the hosting settings. No specific hosting service is configured for this archive. Opening the files entirely locally does not connect to a website host.

3. No embedded analytics

The institute pages contain no analytics or advertising trackers, externally loaded fonts, social media embeds or newsletter form. Language is selected through separate pages; display settings apply only to the current page and are not stored persistently. The website itself sets no cookies.

4. Contact by email

If you email us, your sender address, message and voluntary information are processed to handle your enquiry. The basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to enquiries), or Article 6(1)(b) for pre-contractual or contractual matters. Messages are deleted once the matter is resolved and no retention obligation or other lawful need remains. Statutory retention duties take precedence.

An email link opens your own email application. Please do not send personal health data. The email providers used and any applicable retention periods must be specified before launch.

5. TourTrace360 and local storage

The prototype loads only after you actively open it. It stores edited tours and recorded sessions in IndexedDB on your device. A session may include participant code, condition, timestamps, input device, browser identifier, viewport size, clicks, room changes, view direction or mouse position, pauses and voluntary closing responses. It does not measure eye movements.

“Vorschau / üben” does not record a session. Recording begins only after acknowledgement of the local data notice. The application code does not transmit tour or session data to the institute or other servers. Exports are initiated by you. Local storage supports the function you expressly request; necessary device storage is addressed by Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. The demo acknowledgement is not consent to a real research study.

Data remain until deletion or removal by the browser. Delete individual sessions in the archive, or all local tour and session data through your browser’s site-data settings. Downloaded files require separate deletion. The database is not encrypted; people with access to your browser profile may be able to access it. For actual studies, the responsible research organisation must separately explain purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention and rights.

6. Downloads and external links

PDFs and the prototype package are served by the same website. Downloading involves the same technical access processes as viewing a page. External sites are contacted only when you follow a link; their own privacy information then applies.

7. Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it for the future. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. This website does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

You may complain to a supervisory authority, in particular where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred. The Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision supervises non-public bodies in Bavaria.
