Center for Domestic Care

ZHV is a concept for time-limited transitional housing after hospital or rehabilitation, together with the people who support everyday life at home.

Preparing for the transition

In a home-like setting with outpatient support, people and their relatives would rehearse daily routines, coordinate assistance and explore suitable adaptations. Coaching for relatives, practical training and independently curated assistive technology are elements of the concept.

Buffering Burden to Study Burden

Temporary relief may enable research participation by people who have little capacity for additional tasks at home. This approach examines supported contexts as research infrastructure while recognising that the relief itself changes behaviour and experience.

Care and research participation must be agreed separately. Repeated observations before, during and after a stay could help examine changes and whether they carry over into everyday life at home.

Questions for evaluation

  • Which activities become manageable at home, and what support remains necessary?
  • How do self-efficacy and burden change for both members of a care dyad?
  • Which spatial, technical and organisational adaptations can be transferred into everyday life?
